A
Speedometer is not an Odometer ! .. --
See for the Difference
|
How does a speedometer measure speed?
A small gear attached to the drive shaft rotates as the
drive shaft
rotates.
The gear is attached to a cable that spins a magnet
inside the speedometer, which tells how fast you’re going.
An odometer records the number of
miles the car has traveled since it was first driven.
The
same cable that
spins the magnet in the speedometer moves gears that flip
the counter on the odometer.
The Trip meter is a temporary
odometer that you can reset.
If you haven’t done that
already, reset the trip meter so you can see how many miles
you’ve traveled.
