Case Study 1 :
If your School Bus has a tachometer,
you can
make a chart of speed and RPMs.
With someone’s help, write
down the
RPMs for several different speeds. Then draw a graph like
this one, with RPMs across the bottom and speed in miles (or
kilometers) per hour up the side.
Make a graph of your data
Case Study 2 :
When the car is sitting still with
the motor running, you feel the engine vibrate.
It is Idling, which means
that it isn’t actually making the car move. A typical
idling rate is a little under 1,000 revolutions per minute (RPMs).
If your car has a tachometer, check it out to see how fast
your car is idling.
A tachometer measures the number of
revolutions an engine makes.
